Walking the Path of Truth Towards a Blessed Life

The Vision and Mission of Millah Abraham

Every movement that endures beyond a single generation is founded upon something greater than programmes, projects, or activities. It is guided by a clear vision that gives direction to its journey and explains why its mission must continue, even through times of hardship and adversity.

For us, as a community of believers, Millah Abraham is more than a name. It is the continuation of a path that we believe has been walked by the Prophets and Messengers of God since the time of Abraham. It is the path that calls humanity back to its fitrah (God-given nature) as servants who submit to one Master alone: God, the Creator and Lord of the universe.

Vision: Returning to Nature (Fitrah)

The vision we hold is neither unfamiliar nor new, yet its meaning is profound. The vision of Millah Abraham is for all humanity to return to the true fitrah of life.

The true fitrah of humankind is to live as servants who submit to God’s Divine Law, not to systems born of the interests of particular nations or groups, nor to ideologies that divide humanity, nor to forms of authority that are detached from universal principles of truth.

When fitrah is preserved, human life becomes filled with blessings. Justice in the law, balance in the economy, and peace within society naturally follow. This vision is rooted in the words of God in the Qur’an:

“Had the people of those towns believed and been mindful of God, We would surely have opened for them blessings from the heavens and the earth.”
(Surah Al-A’rāf 7:96)

This verse is not merely a promise of material abundance. It is a reminder that when humanity lives according to its divinely ordained nature, blessings extend to every dimension of life; spiritual, social, economic, and civilisational.

Mission: To Read, Purify, and Teach

In the understanding of the Millah Abraham community, our mission is guided by the three responsibilities set forth in the Qur’an, Surah Al-Jumu‘ah (62:2): first, to read His revelations; second, to purify; and third, to teach the Book and Wisdom. These three responsibilities are inseparable, each supporting and completing the others.

The First Responsibility: Reading His Signs

The first responsibility is to read the revelations of God to humanity, both the verses revealed in the Holy Scriptures and the signs of He displayed throughout the universe. For us, this calling is far more than the recitation of sacred texts. It is a mission to awaken humanity to a true knowledge of the One in whom they profess belief. It is to remind people that true servitude belongs to God alone, the Lord of the universe, and not to the ideologies of nations or to systems of law shaped solely by the interests of particular groups. Within the teachings of this community, this act of reading is carried out through gentle persuasion, rational and scholarly discourse, and never through coercion or material inducement, in accordance with the guidance of the Qur’an (Surah An-Naḥl 16:125). Whether a person accepts or rejects this call remains a matter of the heart, as guidance (Hidayah) belongs solely to God.

The Second Responsibility: Purification (Tazkiyah)

The second responsibility is Tazkiyah: the purification of the self. Our mission does not end with the recitation of God’s revelations. It continues with the nurturing of faith by cleansing the heart of every form of shirk, selfish desire, and allegiance to any master besides God. Within the understanding of the Millah Abraham community, this process is essential if a believer is to serve Him with sincerity, purity, and truth.
We believe that Tazkiyah is cultivated through an education rooted in compassion, humility, and mercy (Ruhama’), as taught in Surah Āli ‘Imrān (3:159). A believer who has undergone this purification acts upon knowledge and understanding rather than following inherited traditions or the crowd without reflection. True transformation must arise from within; it cannot be imposed from without.

The Third Responsibility: To Teach the Book and Wisdom

The third responsibility is to teach the Book and Wisdom. In our understanding, the Book refers to the Divine Law revealed through the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur’an, while Wisdom is the God-given ability to lead with justice and to exercise sound judgement in accordance with divine revelation. Those who receive these teachings are shaped, strengthened, and united together as a community of believers, ready to bear witness to the truth among humanity (Surah Al-Jumu‘ah 62:2; Surah Al-Hajj 22:78). The fruit of this mission is the establishment of Khalifah fil Ardh, a just, peaceful, and flourishing order in which humanity is able to live in harmony with its fitrah, as God intended.

The Approach: Gradual, Peaceful, and Grounded in Divine Principles

One of the defining characteristics of this teaching is the manner in which the path of truth is to be walked. Within the understanding of the Millah Abraham community, genuine and lasting transformation cannot be achieved through violence or by rebelling against existing governments.

Rather, the journey unfolds in stages. From the nurturing of faith, to Hijrah, and then Jihad, until the divinely ordained order is established at the time appointed by the Creator. This is not merely a pragmatic strategy; it is part of Sunnatullah—the divine law governing the rise and succession of civilisations throughout human history.

The lives of God’s Prophets and Messengers, including Abraham (Ibrāhīm), Moses (Mūsā), Jesus (‘Īsā), and Muhammad S.A.W are testaments that the way of Millah Abraham has borne fruit whenever it has been faithfully followed. For us who seek to walk the path of Millah Abraham today, we hold the same conviction: the Tree of God, long withered, shall bear fruit once again.

Relevance for Today

We in the Millah Abraham community recognise the many challenges confronting society today. Widening social inequality, declining trust in public institutions, and the loss of spiritual direction are all signs of a deeper problem: humanity has drifted far from its fitrah.

The vision and mission we carry are not intended solely for the well-being of our own society. We believe they offer a response to the wider human condition, a journey that begins in the Malay Archipelago (Nusantara) before extending, by the will of God, to the rest of the world.

This is the good news: this path is open to all who earnestly seek it.

At the same time, let this serve as a reminder to us all: should we delay taking the step to return to our fitrah, in obedience to the command of the Creator, the consequences will inevitably be felt—not only in our own life, but also in the life of society at large.

This article has been prepared to present the teachings as they are understood and believed by the Millah Abraham community. It is intended solely to provide an accurate understanding of those beliefs. Every reader remains free to reflect upon this message and to make their own personal decision.
